On our way home from Bacalar we decided to stop by Muyil since it was on our way. It’s located just south of Tulum right off of the main highway. It cost us 45 pesos each to do a self guided tour (there were more expensive options with a guide/lake tour) and it was nice and quiet, there were only two other couples there walking around with us.
I was really impressed with the size of the ruins and how close you could get. I’d highly recommend these ruins over the ones in Tulum, less crowded, bigger, and you can get right up close to the buildings. The only thing I’d have to say is I really wished we brought bug spray, I was eaten alive in the jungle! But overall really great… if we have any more visitors I’d definitely take them to Muyil.
